TEDLAR®
PVF FILM FOR LAMINATED TO GALVAINZED STEEL
This specification covers the performance requirements
of galvanized steel prefinished with pigmented TEDLAR®
PVF film in the type and thickness recommended for specific
end use by the DuPont Company.
The film shall be bonded to one or both sides of the metal
by a qualified laminator with adhesives and procedures
furnished by the DuPont Company. Prior to the application
of the adhesive, the metal shall be cleaned and chemically
treated with a commercially available conversion coating
applied as directed by the manufacturer. For maximum protection
of the metal, a corrosion resistant primer may be applied
between the steel and the adhesive. A forming wax or protective
strippable film shall be applied to the TEDLAR® surface.
The galvanized steel shall be 1 1/4 oz, hot dipped, preferably
with a minimum spangle surface. The maximum metal thickness
for lamination shall not exceed 051”. The laminate
shall be capable of withstanding the following tests without
loss of bond, blistering, or other film adhesion defect:
• 1000 Hours in boiling water – completely
submerged
• 1000 Hours in fog chamber at 100% R.H. and 100°F
• 1000 Hours in a 100°F water bath – completely
submerged
• 3000 Hours in an Atlas XW Weather-Ometer
Electrogalvanized steel is also an acceptable substrated,
but only for interior applications.

TEDLAR® PVF FILM FOR SOUND BARRIER BAG
DuPont TEDLAR® PVF film withstands the
ravages of weather and ultraviolet light that destroy
other surfaces and finishes.
PVF film stays clean from pollution. That is because PVF’s
low frictional coefficient.
PVF film has excellent resistance to chemicals, solvents
and stains. It retains its film form and strength even
when boiled in strong acids and bases.
DuPont have specially made TEDLAR® TGY85SL2
(thickness is 21 micron) for sound barrier bag application
and also conducted UV weatherbility and noise reduction
tests on TEDLAR® TGY85SL2. Attached is
Tedlar® application information and test
results of TGY85SL2 for sound barrier bag application.
